Hello This is Liwan

A space for youth to express , invlove , and empower

About Liwan

Liwan Youth space is an interactive environment based on voluntary relationships, providing young people with supportive and safe interactive opportunities and conditions, both temporal and spatial, that are open to all youth categories.

It provides groups, youth initiatives, volunteers, and active young men and women with opportunities for discussion, idea exchange, learning, self-discovery, empowerment, organization, and social action. It encourages creative interaction and communication with peers, as well as influencing public opinion by raising diverse perspectives and viewpoints from various social groups. This could even lead to the emergence of a "youth community" capable of impacting the decision-making processes in society.

Our Story

Liwan emphasizes a fundamental principle based on the concept of collaborative work, enhancing the participation and role of youth in influencing and making decisions that affect them. The space was developed through a Participatory Action Research process with a team of 12 young men and women, known as the "Co-creation Team," over the course of four months to establish the space's identity, areas of work, roles, and governance system (management and procedures).

Liwan Youth Space launched in the last quarter of 2018 through this participatory process, supported by a collaboration between ActionAid and Tammey for Human Resource Development within the "Enhancing Youth Civic and Political Participation" project. It aimed to provide innovative and alternative forms of participation. The name "Liwan" refers to a space that gathers family, guests, and friends at home, embodying feelings of safety, comfort, non-judgment, respect, equality, and support.

In September 2021, Liwan became an independent entity, established under the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply as a private non-profit company. The programs and scope of the space have since evolved.

Our Mission

Creating safe and youth-friendly alternative spaces by providing networking and learning opportunities helps young people recognize their identities and the importance of their tools and constructive interactions within their communities.

In this space, young people can experience collective practices and express their opinions freely and confidently, without fear of making mistakes or failing. It enhances their self-worth both as individuals and as youth groups, strengthening their voices and their ability to influence public opinion and draw attention to important issues they face. This contributes to positive change and reinforces the role of youth as impactful actors in society.

Our Vision

Youth communities capable of realizing their identities and roles.
It is a private non-profit company registered with the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply under the number 1362, dated September 26, 2021.

Our Roles

Liwan draws inspiration for all its processes and procedures from four core values. The process of defining these values went through several stages during its establishment. The Co-creation Team discussed over 14 values deemed essential to guide Liwan's work. During the pilot phase, these values were re-evaluated and condensed into four key principles, which serve as the foundation for self-reflection and performance evaluation.

1. Participation:
This is a fundamental right for all young people, regardless of gender. Young people work together with us and through us on their issues, priorities, aspirations, and community needs. The space provides the support, opportunities, empowerment, and platform necessary for youth groups and initiatives to address their concerns.

2.Cooperation and Exchange:
This value is based on utilizing the available resources of our human and social capital (skills, abilities, and networks) among individuals and youth groups, allowing us to support one another and our community with minimal financial costs, while promoting the sustainability and independence of Liwan.

3. Appreciation of Diversity:
While we share common traits, we also have differences in interests, perspectives, and backgrounds that enrich our ideas, tools, and actions.

4. Flexibility:
This refers to the ability to quickly adjust plans or tools in response to changes while maintaining professionalism in our work.
